If you’re trying to get rid of extra fat stored in your belly or any other parts of your body, follow these Ayurvedic tips that can help you slim down naturally without the use of extreme weight loss methods.
New Delhi: With so many weight loss diets out there, it can be difficult to stay focused and know which plans can actually deliver results. And that’s where the Ayurvedic diet comes in handy. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of healing, has evolved over the years and is now integrated with other traditional practices such as Yoga.
Some researchers believe that Ayurvedic medicine can help determine a person’s risk of developing certain health conditions as well as delay the onset of symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. Ayurveda can help people lose weight and keep it off as long as they adhere to the suggestions – perhaps, without jumping from diet to diet. It is believed that Ayurveda focuses on identifying and treating the root cause of the problem, which helps achieve a permanent solution. So, if you’re trying to get rid of extra fat stored in your belly or any other parts of your body, follow these Ayurvedic tips that can help you slim down naturally without the use of extreme weight loss methods.
Ayurvedic tips for weight loss
- Drink plenty of water: Drinking 1-2 glasses of warm water with a fresh lemon juice first thing in the morning is an excellent way to kickstart your day. It will give the entire digestive system a boost, help your body to detox, and revive your mind and body. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to improve your overall health, help remove toxins from the body effectively and increase your metabolic rate, which is crucial when trying to lose weight. However, Ayurveda does not recommend drinking water soon after or before a meal.
- Focus on seasonal foods: Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables that will help boost your weight loss and provide whatever your body needs as fuels. Fruits and veggies are low in calories but high in nutrients, fibre, and antioxidants that can help prevent and reduce your risk of disease. Your body also needs food according to the different seasons, hence, it’s important to make seasonal fruits and veggies as part of your diet. Ayurveda believes that introducing too many heavy and difficult to digest foods – such as processed foods, meat and cheese – can cause unwanted weight gain. It is claimed that these foods can actually increase your level of undigested food wastes or Ama. So, if you’re trying to lose weight, you need to avoid heavy foods as much as possible for a while and opt for lighter, fresh produce.
- Three meals per day: Contrary to conventional advice that suggests eating frequent meals, Ayurveda encourages you to eat three proper meals a day – a healthy breakfast preferably between 7:30 and 9:00 am, a scrumptious lunch (which should be your largest meal) between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, and a light dinner between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm, when your digestion is weakest. This means having multiple meals is not advised in Ayurveda.
- A healthy sleep pattern: Sleep plays a key role when it comes to losing those extra pounds and maintaining overall health. Research has shown that your body needs enough rest every night to function optimally and keep you fit and healthy. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of shut-eye per night to keep obesity and other chronic conditions at bay. Yet, the idea here is to sleep early and rise early. According to Ayurveda, the best time to hit the bed is 10 pm. The goal is to wake up at 5 am or latest by 6 am.
Try to follow these tips to help you lose that stubborn belly fat, maintain the ideal body, and improve your overall health and well-being.
